What is new in CBSE 2025-26 syllabus as compared to 2024-25?
These are some of the key updates and changes made in the 2025-26 CBSE curriculum as compared to the previous academic year:
1. Updated NCERT Textbooks
- The syllabus reflects the new NCERT textbooks revised under NEP 2020 for certain classes and subjects.
- A few books in Science, Maths, Social Science, and English have been changed or reordered to promote conceptual learning and reduce rote learning.
2. Emphasis on Competency Based Questions
- As seen in recent years, competency based questions (CBQs) continue to grow. In 2025–26, up to 50% of Class 10 and 12 board exam questions are CBQs.
- These include case-based, source-based, assertion-reason, and competency-focused MCQs.
3. Skill Subjects from Middle School Onwards: The inclusion of vocational and skill-based subjects has expanded. Students can now opt for skill subjects like AI, Coding, Financial Literacy, and Design Thinking from Class 6 onwards.
4. Reduced Syllabus Load: Certain overlapping or less relevant chapters have been removed from subjects like History, Political Science, and Accountancy for ease of understanding and stress reduction.
5. Integration of Digital Tools
- CBSE has recommended more use of DIKSHA, ePathshala, and online simulations in the classroom for subjects like Science and Math.
- Digital content is integrated as supplementary, especially in higher classes.
6. New Assessment Pattern
- Internal assessments now include co scholastic development.
- The focus is shifting from "marks based" to "learning based" evaluations.
