The CBSE syllabus for class 1 follows the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines focusing on experiential learning, foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN), and multi-disciplinary development.
In CBSE Class 1, students use Mridang for English, Sarangi for Hindi, and Joyful Mathematics for Maths.
Earlier, CBSE Class 1 syllabus used books like Marigold for English, Rimjhim for Hindi, and Math Magic for Mathematics. As updated and revised NCERT books for academic year 2025-26 includes Mridang (English), Sarangi (Hindi), and Joyful Mathematics to encourage joyful learning with play-based and experiential learning.
Children who are 6 years old or above as on 31st March of the academic year 2025-26 are eligible for admission to CBSE Class 1.
